Homewear for a minimalist
I must admit that nice homewear capsule was difficult for me to create. Since I was a child, I had been persuaded to believe that after returning home, you need to change clothes and wear old, worn-out things. And that’s what I’ve been doing for quite a long time. A few good years ago, however, I decided that it was completely pointless, because it is better to take care of your comfort on a daily basis. But what to wear at home? It was a problem for me and it was still not a very structured part of my wardrobe. And just depending on what wore I didn’t change clothes or did it partially.
Certainly, for many of you, the last year was the time you spent mainly at home. I will not be surprised if at that time you were buying clothes mainly with the thought that they would be a comfortable home outfit. People who needed to be online during home-office certainly began to pay more attention to what they wear at home. I hope (as probably everyone) that the pandemic will soon pass and we will return to our normal lifestyle. However, it is worth to create a properly composed home capsule that stays with us for good. Thus, I would like to make a good use of this time and finally organize this one small shelf that is occupied by „at home” items.
What to wear at home?
For me, it must be comfortable. The possibility to make moves freely and the comfort of wearing home clothes is very important to me and cannot be overestimated. I think most of you think the same.
Perhaps the first answer about the homewear would be a classic tracksuit, but recently sets made of delicate knitwear pleasant to the touch have been making a dizzying career. It’s ideal if such a set is made of natural fibers. Woolen sets have become very fashionable this winter. Their prices, however, can be scary, and wool, like wool, likes to be pushed out quickly here and there. So you can reach for a more economical version of combined fabrics. However prepare yourself for a large proportion of artificial fibers in these more affordable items. Such sets are warm and comfortable. In fact, it is a premium tracksuit. If you think about Polish brands, you can take a look at the Mle Collection and their merino wool tracksuits or take advantage of what mass market offers. The downside of woolen sets is that they most often require more effort to wash.

Classic cotton tracksuits is an item that almost every brand make! I recommend that you take a good look at the composition and search for good quality cotton. Polish brands such as Hibou or Bombshe with their products deserve special attention. Fans of chain stores should definitely check out HM, where there is a really large selection of tracksuits. Good and careful choice will pay off, because your clothes won’t bulge so quickly and color won’t fade. I am a fan of this cloth, but I must admit that I do not have complete sets. Pants and sweatshirts are separate items in my closet.
Another thing you can wear at home are leggings. I couldn’t convince myself to wear them for a long time. I got a memory from childhood: the horrible classic Lycra leggings worn by my friends. However, over time, I became fond of the comfortable cotton leggings. Every day I wear leggings from the MLE Collection and graphite „ordinary” ones from Decathlon, which cost probably 5 euro, but they are unbreakable (and they are completely non transparent). However, my heart (and probably my wallet soon) is stolen by these beautiful leggings from Bohemisoul, maybe because they are a good compromise between leggings and sweatpants.
What if I don’t like wearing pants?
If you don’t like trousers, don’t worry :). Another suggestion that can be worn as a homewear is a dress, such as those made of ribbed material or knitted. They are also at hand because they have not gone out of fashion for several years. They are produced by many Polish companies, including NAGO, and I noticed it is highly praised by clients.
As I don’t wear dressesat home, my „top” is usually a short- or long-sleeved t-shirt and a comfortable cardigan that will keep me warm on cooler days.
Homewear accessories
I will disappoint those waiting for some slippers recommendation. I hate this type of footwear and most often I walk at home barefoot, in socks or in beach flip-flops (I recommend the Roxy brand – comfortable, soft and durable). I used to really like the fabric ballerinas until I found out that everything I had in my hands was made of 100% polyester. In winter, I bought a set of woolen socks at a very affordable price, which perfectly replace slippers.
What about makeup? I don’t really wear my makeup at home, because I have to use a high sunscreen cream for going out with my dog anyway. However, if I feel like or need to apply makeup, I reach for Klairs BB cream (this is my Korean discovery of the year).
How many items of homewear you should have?
Assuming that we spend time at home every day, the number of things should be sufficient for this time, i.e. ensure the availability of clean things. For me it is:
– bottoms: a pair of sweatpants and two pairs of leggings
– tops: 2 sweatshirts, 2 long sleeves and 3 T-shirts.
I do not include homewear to seasonal capsules, if there are any sweatshirts or leggings in the examples, it is a separate shelf in the wardrobe.
What not to use as a homewear?
First of all, not in damaged things and things that you don’t like. I would never choose something made of artificial material, because I cannot imagine sitting for a few hours in something that does not allow my skin to breathe. I also reject all „stiff” clothes in which I can’t move freely and clothes with strongly marked, disturbing seams.
My home outfit: mostly leggings and a sweatshirt. And yours?
